Sending email from XTRA
NZ's ISP Xtra have made some changes, if you are using an Xtra account to send / receive your email from simplehost you will have to make a small change.
Xtra have blocked port 25. This port is used to send email to simplehost so you will find you will no longer be able to send mail out, you may see an error in Outlook similar to "Outlook could not connect to the outgoing mail server (SMTP)"
This is a measure taken by Xtra to help reduce spam
Change your outgoing (SMTP) server in your Email Accounts settings to "smtp.xtra.co.nz" instead of "mail.simplehost.co.nz".
No other changes are required and you will be sending your email out through Xtra's SMTP server -- your email will still appear from your simplehost email address and you will still receive email on that address from simplehost.
You have the option to opt-out of the port 25 blocking by contacting Xtra or filling out the online form on the link below.
