On the night of March 11th we migrated our primary mail server to new hardware and a new mail server software stack.
The following morning we were alerted to a small group of customers experiencing difficulty retrieving email. We deduced that these customers were all using Outlook and POP3 specifically.
After investigating we noticed POP3 on Outlook was very specific about it's ordering of messages, and as an adverse effect was causing Outlook to stop downloading future email.
To fix this we had to rebuild the database that each mailbox contains of the messages stored on the server. This unfortunately causes Outlook to re-download these stored messages.
We are sorry about the inconvenience this has caused those who were affected and please don't hesitate to contact us if you have a continuing problem.
